In this article, we give you a comprehensive list of the differences between our Czepeku website subscriptions and Patreon subscriptions. We'll try to answer any questions you might have about the difference in content, tiers, and billing.
Available Subscriptions
The Czepeku website is home to our full library, including content that isn’t available anywhere else. There are three Fantasy subscriptions (Maps, Scenes, and Tokens, also available in a bundle) and a Complete Sci-Fi bundle (includes Maps, Scenes, and Tokens—not available separately). Each subscription is available in two tiers: Essential or Premium.
On Patreon, there are three available subscriptions: Fantasy Maps, Fantasy Scenes, and Sci-Fi Maps.
Available Content
The content on our website and Patreon is very similar, but there are a few website-exclusive releases. You can find a complete list below as well as a table that summarizes the differences.
Fantasy
- Maps:
- All variants are available on both the website and Patreon.
- Animated Day maps are available on both, but animated Night maps and other variations are website-exclusive.
- VTT-Ready maps: Foundry-ready maps are available on the website and Patreon, with EncounterPlus-ready maps being exclusive to Patreon. Moulinette integration is available on Patreon. A Czepeku Foundry module is included in the website subscription.
- Scenes:
- All variants and Day and Night animated scenes are available on both the website and Patreon.
- Tokens:
- Because tokens are accessed through a complex personalization tool, tokens are website-exclusive.
Sci-Fi
- Maps:
- All variants are available on the website and Patreon.
- Animated Day maps are available on both, but animated Night maps and other variations are website-exclusive.
- Foundry-ready maps are available on both the website and Patreon. Moulinette integration is available on Patreon. A Czepeku Foundry module is included in the website subscription.
- Scenes:
- Sci-Fi scenes are website-exclusive.
- Tokens:
- Sci-Fi tokens are website-exclusive.
Tiers
Patreon subscriptions are organized into tiers that grant access to different subsets of the available content. All of the Patreon subscriptions are organized in the same tiers (all tiers include access to the backlog of existing content accessible for that tier):
- $1 per release: day and night variations of each map/scene
- $5 per release: all variations of each map/scene
- $10 per release: animated maps/scene (day variant only)
The website subscriptions are organized into two tiers: Essential and Premium.
Each Premium Fantasy subscription costs $25 per month and is equivalent to the highest tier on Patreon. For example, the Premium Fantasy Maps subscription gives access to all the available Fantasy map content (all variants and animated versions), similar to the $10 per release tier on Patreon.
Each Essential Fantasy subscription costs $15/month and is equivalent to the $5 per release tier on Patreon.
The Premium and Essential Fantasy Bundles are priced at $50/month and $30/month, respectively. (Three subscription for the price of two.)
Sci-Fi is slightly different in that it is only available as a Complete Sci-Fi Bundle. The Essential tier costs $15/month. The Premium tier costs $25/month.
Billing
A big difference between our website and Patreon subscriptions is the billing model.
Czepeku subscriptions are billed per month you're subscribed.
Patreon bills per creation released while you are subscribed, and there are usually five releases per month. This means that if you are subscribed at the $5 tier, you will pay $25 per month unless you put a limit on the number of releases you want to support (but we ask that you don't go under two).
This means the best subscription for you depends on your needs: if you want animated fantasy battlemaps, you'd be paying $50/month on Patreon and would definitely be better off with a website subscription at $25/month. But if you only need the day and night static variations, the $1 tier on Patreon might be more interesting for you.
If you're interested in both Fantasy Maps and Scenes, you might as well consider the Complete Fantasy Bundle and get the tokens for free!

VTT Integrations
Both Patreon and website subscriptions offer Alchemy RPG and Foundry integrations.
If you're subscribed through Patreon, Moulinette, an add-on, makes it easier to browse the content available to you on Patreon in Foundry. If you're subscribed through the website, you can use Czepeku's own module, Czepeku Universe. To access the module, visit our Discord and select the appropriate role in #role-select!
We also have the option to download UVTT files for use with other VTTs like Owlbear Rodeo, Encounter+, and Roll20.
Which is Better Value?
It depends on what you need! Here’s a quick way to think about it:
- Want animated maps? A premium website subscription is $25/month vs. ~$50/month on Patreon—the website is the significantly better deal.
- Want Tokens, Sci-Fi Scenes, or animated maps? Those are only available to download on the website.
- Only need day and night variations? Patreon’s $1 release tier is the most affordable way to access our maps.
- Interested in both Maps and Scenes? The Complete Fantasy Bundle on our website includes Tokens at no extra cost!
Browsing and Downloading
Regardless of how you subscribe, we recommend using the Czepeku website to browse through our maps and scenes. Our full library of 18,000 maps and scenes are tagged by setting, theme, environments, and elements, so finding the right map for your session will take seconds.

Patreon subscribers are welcome to browse and search on the website too! Once you’ve found the map you need, clicking “Download Map” will give you the option to jump straight to the relevant Patreon post. Direct downloads are available to website subscribers only.
